Terms of Use for RepTax

Effective TODO — a date

These Terms are the agreement between you and TODO — the publishing entity about your use of RepTax. Installing or using the app means you accept them. If you don't, don't use the app.

Read the Health and safety section. It's the part of this page that can actually affect you.

What the app does

RepTax restricts apps you choose on your own phone. Each day those apps share one allowance of screen time. When the allowance runs out, the app shows a lock screen over them. To earn more time, you do a short exercise — squats, push-ups, lunges, jumping jacks or a plank hold — which the app counts using your phone's camera.

You choose the apps, the exercise, the price in reps and the minutes each unlock buys. The app enforces what you set. It is a tool for limiting your own use, and nothing more.

Your licence

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use RepTax on devices you own or control, for your own use, under these Terms and the rules of the store you installed it from. You may not copy, sell, rent, sublicense, modify, reverse-engineer or decompile the app, except where the law says you may regardless of what this paragraph states.

You need to be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and at least 13 (16 in the EEA). RepTax is not for children.

Health and safety

Read this before you do the first rep.

RepTax asks you to exercise. Exercise carries risk, and this app is not a coach, a physiotherapist or a doctor.

• This is not medical advice. Nothing in the app is a diagnosis, a treatment plan or a fitness programme designed for you.
• Talk to a doctor before you start, especially if you are pregnant, recovering from injury or surgery, or have a heart, joint, back, blood-pressure or balance condition, or if you haven't exercised in a while.
• Stop if it hurts. Stop if you feel pain, dizziness, faintness, chest tightness or shortness of breath, and get medical help if you need it. Don't work through it to earn app time.
• Nobody is watching your form. Reps are counted by a camera and software, not by a person. The app can't see whether your back is straight, whether your knee is tracking badly, or whether you should stop. It can count a rep that was bad for you, and it can refuse a rep that was fine.
• Your surroundings are yours to check. Make room. Watch out for furniture, walls, other people, pets, stairs and slippery or uneven floors. Wear something you can move and land in.
• Mind the phone. For push-ups, the app expects the phone on the floor in front of you. Put it where you won't hit it, kneel on it or fall onto it, and where it won't be knocked over. We're not responsible for damage to your phone or to anything near it.
• Don't exercise where it's unsafe to. Not while driving, not on a balcony rail, not at the top of stairs, not anywhere a fall would matter.

You do these exercises at your own risk. You are responsible for deciding whether you're fit to do them and for stopping when you should. To the fullest extent the law allows, TODO — the publishing entity is not liable for injury, illness or damage arising from exercises you do with this app.

Blocking is not a guarantee

RepTax enforces your limits using features the operating system provides. Those features have edges, and so does the app:

• On iOS, blocking depends on Apple's Screen Time authorization. Revoke it and blocking stops.
• On Android, blocking depends on usage access, permission to display over other apps, and a background service the system allows to keep running. Many phones aggressively shut down background apps; some manufacturers require extra settings before an app like this keeps working. If the service is killed, time isn't counted and the lock screen doesn't appear.
• Permissions can be withdrawn at any moment, in your device settings, by you.
• Operating systems change. A future version can change or remove what the app relies on.
• Anyone determined to get around a block can get around it — by uninstalling the app, changing a setting, or using another device or a browser.

So: we do not promise that blocking is complete, continuous or impossible to bypass. The app is a form of self-imposed friction, not a lock.

Not a safety product

RepTax is for limiting your own use of your own apps. It is not a parental-control product, not a monitoring product, and not a safety product. Don't use it to control or monitor someone else's device, and don't rely on it where an interruption would be dangerous.

Think before you restrict an app you might urgently need — your phone app, your messages, your maps. The app currently has no list of apps that are always allowed. The emergency hatch ("I need it now") opens your restricted apps for five minutes without reps, but it's deliberately limited: twice in any rolling seven days, and the next unlock after it costs double. Don't treat it as an emergency service.

Pro, ads and money

The free tier

Without Pro you can restrict one app, use squats, and use the default rule (10 squats for 15 minutes). You see full-screen ads before some unlocks: never-subscribed users get a quiet first week, after which an ad can appear before the exercise. Ads are never shown while the camera is on. Ads come from Google AdMob; see the Privacy Policy.

Pro

Pro removes the ads and unlocks unlimited restricted apps, all five exercises, custom rules, Strict Mode and full history. Pro is sold through the App Store and Google Play:

A monthly plan at $9.99 per month also exists. It is not on the main plan lists; it appears only inside specific discounted offers, such as a reduced first month for someone whose subscription lapsed.

From time to time the app offers a discounted first period — a cheaper first week or first month. Unless the offer says otherwise, the discount applies to that first period only; the subscription then renews at the plan's standard price until you cancel. The offer screen states the discounted price, the price afterwards and the billing period before you buy.

Prices vary by region. The figures above are the base prices in US dollars. Your store sets the price in your currency, including taxes where they apply, and the price shown in the app at the moment you buy is the one that governs.

The free trial

The 7-day free trial is on the annual plan only, and only for people the store considers eligible — typically those who haven't had it before. Weekly, monthly and lifetime purchases have no trial.

If you don't cancel before the trial ends, it converts to a paid annual subscription at the price shown when you started it. The app asks for permission to send you a notification two days before that first charge, and sends one if you allow it. That reminder is a courtesy, not a condition: if you refuse the permission, turn notifications off, or the notification doesn't arrive, the subscription still converts. Keeping track of your trial is your responsibility.

Renewal, cancellation and refunds

• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, at the then-current price, until you cancel.
• Cancel through your store, not through us: Apple Account settings on iOS, Google Play subscriptions on Android. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends, or the next one may already have been charged.
• Cancelling stops the next charge. Pro stays active until the period you've paid for runs out.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. We can't issue, speed up or overrule them. We have no access to your payment method.
• If Pro lapses, the app goes back to the free tier. Nothing is deleted: your custom rule and your extra apps stay on the phone, paused, and come back if Pro does.
• "Restore" on the paywall and in Settings asks the store for purchases already made with your Apple Account or Google account.
• A lifetime purchase means the Pro features of this app for as long as the app exists and works on your device. It is not a promise that the app will be published forever.
• Delete all data in Settings erases what's on your phone. It doesn't cancel or refund a subscription, which belongs to your store account.

Acceptable use

Don't use RepTax to restrict or monitor a device that isn't yours to manage. Don't use it to break the law. Don't try to interfere with the app, other people's use of it, or the services it relies on — no reverse-engineering, no tampering with purchase verification, no automated abuse of the stores' trial or offer systems.

The honesty of the exercise is between you and yourself. The app counts what the camera sees.

Our rights in the app

RepTax — its code, design, text, artwork and name — belongs to TODO — the publishing entity or its licensors, and is protected by copyright and other laws. These Terms give you a licence to use it; they transfer nothing else. The app includes third-party software (including Google's ML Kit, Google Mobile Ads, RevenueCat, PostHog and Sentry), used under their own licences.

The data you create in the app — your apps, rules, reps and history — is yours. It stays on your phone, and you can export or delete it at any time.

Changes and availability

We may change, suspend or stop the app or any of its features, and we may change these Terms. When we change the Terms, we'll update the date at the top and post the new version here; for a material change, the app will tell you. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it. If you don't accept it, stop using the app and cancel any subscription.

We don't promise the app will always be available, or that it will keep working with future versions of iOS or Android.

No warranty

To the fullest extent the law allows, RepTax is provided "as is" and "as available", with no warranty of any kind — express or implied — including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted or error-free operation.

We do not warrant that blocking will work in every case, that rep counting will be accurate, that time measurement will be exact, or that the app will improve your habits, your screen time or your health.

Some places don't allow these exclusions. Where that's so, they don't apply to you, and you keep the rights your local consumer law gives you. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, TODO — the publishing entity is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, lost opportunity, or damage to your device — arising from your use of RepTax, from blocking that did or didn't happen, from reps that were or weren't counted, or from time the app did or didn't grant.

Where we are liable, our total liability is capped at the greater of the amount you paid for RepTax in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 50.

Third-party stores and services

You get RepTax from the App Store or Google Play, and their terms apply to your download and your purchases. These Terms are between you and TODO — the publishing entity only. Apple and Google are not parties to them and are not responsible for the app. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

The app relies on third-party services described in the Privacy Policy. We're not responsible for the content of ads served by Google.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of TODO — country or state, and disputes go to the courts of TODO — country or state. If you're a consumer, this doesn't take away the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in, or your right to bring a case there.

If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
